Casa Feliza

A community space for learning, artistic creation and cultural encounter in the city of Barranquilla.

Another city, the same fabric

Casa Feliza is the foundation's only door that isn't in the Sierra Nevada — it lives in Barranquilla. Because of that it doesn't share physical territory with the rest, but it does share a logic: community training and creation, just like Seed Guides Training; and what's created there ends up being sold at La Local.

It's a two-story house with an inner courtyard planted with palms, and inside it holds spaces few community houses have: a library with several sections of shelving full of books, archives and awards; a mezzanine with a wrought-iron railing and its own stained-glass window; and, in the basement, a movie theater with colorful seats, a stage and a projection screen — designed for screenings, gatherings and audiovisual training.

A garden that needs hands

Casa Feliza's backyard is a work in progress. The ground has already been cleared, brick borders have been laid out, the irrigation setup is ready, and new plantings are beginning to grow among the palms. But it's not finished: the paving still needs to be completed, the irrigation system closed off, and the planting extended to cover the whole space.

It's, quite literally, a regeneration process halfway there — the same language we use for La Tigra's forest, applied here to a courtyard in the city. And like every process halfway there, it needs support to be finished.
